Professor Indiana Jones' Students

I always wondered when Indiana Jones had time to grade papers, compose letters of recommendation, participate in committee meetings, write research papers, and conduct seminars. How did his students cope with his long absences? Did he leave everything in the hands of TAs when he was gone?

Maybe, as someone has suggested, he had permanent tenure? I can't imagine he followed the "publish or perish" rule... He was more worried about actually perishing.
